A superbly run, reasonably priced riad with pretty roof terrace from which you can watch the sun set. The fantastic staff offer an excellent range of activities including cookery lessons, excursions, hammam and guided tours. In addition the riad is easy to find and very conveniently located close to the major sights and near to the souks.

Accommodation: The 7 colourful, homely rooms are arranged around 2 courtyards and come in a variety of room sizes and prices, including rooms for 3 or 4 people. The original 3-bedroomed riad has a cheerful decor themed around oranges and reds, comprising 1 double suite on ground floor and 2 double suites on first floor, one of which has a mezzanine with single bed accessed by a steep ladder with the facility to bolt the door from the outside. There are 4 extra suites in the adjacent riad: Tiznit a double suite on the ground floor; Rissani, Merzouga and Mekneson the first floor, all of which take extra beds.

Location: In the former Ambassador’s district which lends it the name “Safir”. Near Bab Aissi and Bab Mansour in the ancient part of the medina, very convenient for all the major sights and souks.

Services and other points to note: We recommend a minimum 4 night stay in order to fully appreciate the insights that you may gain into the region and the local culture by participating in their programme of activities and visits which may include cookery lessons, visits to a local hammam and guided tours of the town, the Middle Atlas Mountains and the Roman Ruins at Volubilis.

Meals: Breakfast is included. High quality traditional evening meals may be served either in the dining area or on the terrace. Sometimes other meal “packages” may be offered.

Staff: The owners are Phillipe & Chantal, a delightful (young 50s) French couple who live nearby; he speaks English and she speaks French. The charming Moroccan staff are English-speaking Imane, the manageress and Fatima Zohra, her French speaking assistant.
